Hi, I’m Charlotte, the maker behind Fruitbat Textiles!
I’m so excited to welcome you into my world of hand-dyed and handwoven British wool creations, inspired by the stunning South West countryside that I’m lucky enough to call home.
For as long as I can remember, I’ve been drawn to the textures, colours, and timeless charm of traditional crafts and the skill and dedication required. My journey began with a simple idea: to create meaningful, high-quality accessories that bring warmth and individuality to everyday life while celebrating the heritage of British wool. From scarves and earrings to pocket mirrors and pouches, each piece I create tells its own unique story.
The Craftsmanship Behind Every Piece
My work is rooted in traditional techniques that honour the art of hand weaving. Each item begins with carefully selected British wool yarn, which I hand-dye to create rich, vibrant colours inspired by nature. Then, using one of my three hand looms, I weave the fabric with care, ensuring no two pieces are ever exactly the same.
Even the smallest details matter to me. My scarves are finished with hand-tied tassels, while my pouches are lined with vintage cotton fabric that adds a touch of nostalgia and sustainability to every design. My earrings and pocket mirrors, made from fabric remnants, transform what might have been discarded into something beautiful and wearable.
Why I Do What I Do
Preserving traditional craftsmanship is at the heart of what I do. In a fast-paced, mass-produced world, I believe there’s something truly special about owning a piece that’s been thoughtfully and lovingly made by hand. Every item I create is infused with the care, patience, and joy that comes from working with my hands and heart.
Your support allows me to live my passion every day—turning humble yarn into pieces that brighten your day and tell a story of heritage and artistry. Whether it’s a scarf to keep you warm on a crisp winter walk, a pouch to carry your essentials, or a pair of earrings to complete your outfit, my hope is that my creations bring a little bit of joy and beauty into your life.
When I’m Not Weaving…
When I’m not in my studio surrounded by colourful yarns and fabric, you’ll often find me exploring the South West countryside with my twins, soaking in the same natural beauty that inspires my work. I also love baking and crafting at home with my girls, cross stitching and listening to music. These days live music is less frequent in my life but still something I very much enjoy when I do get the chance!
